NAMS Message to Families 9/16/22

Hello NAMS Families,

I hope that this message finds you and your loved ones well. Below you will find information and reminders. I would like to first ask for your help in filling some positions at NAMS.

 

Are you interested in working at NAMS?

We are in the process of reviewing applications and hiring for the following 3 positions. 

  • ISS (Instructional Support Staff - Building Substitutes) - $100 per day with flexible schedule.

You can apply for this position here. Please select the North Andover Middle School position.

  • Teaching Assistant (7:50-2:20) - Information may be found in the contract here.

  • Health Teacher for Maternity Leave (9/28-3/11)

Are you interested in being on the NAMS School Council this year?

  • Today is the last day to volunteer!

  • We are looking for 3 parents/guardians to be members of this year’s NAMS School Council. Each public school has a school council consisting of the school principal, teachers, and parents/guardians of students currently attending the school. The council will work together to help shape the school culture, assist to identify educational needs of the students, develop a school improvement plan and ensure the district plan is implemented.  

  • The NAMS school council will be composed of 3 teachers, 3 parents/guardians, 2 grade 8 students, and a community member is possible. A parent/guardian position may be shared by more than one parent. 

  • This year’s School Council Meetings will take place on Monday afternoons from 2:35-3:35 p.m. with the first meeting scheduled for October 17, 2022. Future dates will be determined after the first meeting.

  • If you are interested in being a member of this year’s NAMS School Council, please complete the google form found here by the end of the day today, Friday, September 16, 2022.

  • We will then invite all NAMS parents/guardians to vote for the 3 parent/guardian representatives next week.

We will schedule the Make-Up Picture Day about a month later. We will schedule the exact date after pictures arrive.

NAMS Musical Announced

  • Auditions for this year's NAMS Musical, "Guys & Dolls" will be held on Monday, September 19th and Tuesday, September 20th from 2:30-3:45 p.m. in the auditorium.

  • Roles are open to any student in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Students should plan to attend auditions on either Monday or Tuesday, not both. 

  • Students should be familiar with the song "Luck Be a Lady" from the 1992 cast of the show (it's available via Internet Search). Ms Liacos will go over the song at the beginning of auditions, as well as provide lyrics. 

  • If a call back audition is needed, it will be held on Wednesday, September 21st from 2:30-3:30 p.m. by invitation only. 

  • Rehearsals will be held regularly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Not all students will be called to each rehearsal.

  • Information for anyone interested in Stage and Tech crew will be announced at the end of September.

 

NAMS Open House Dates - Save the date!

  • Grade 6 - Wednesday, September 21, 2022 @ 6:00 p.m.

  • Grade 7 - Wednesday, September 28, 2022 @ 6:00 p.m.

  • Grade 8 - Thursday, October 6, 2022 @ 6:00 p.m.

All parents/guardians are asked to first meet in the auditorium at 6:00 p.m. before meeting with their teams.
