Substitute Teaching

The school district is always looking for energetic and caring people to join our pool of substitutes in our seven schools. In 2025, we instituted a new program to make the process as efficient and user-friendly as possible. The Frontline Absence Management platform allows you to get notifications of daily coverage needs via a mobile app, online portal and/or telephone. Subs are able to work in all schools or select one or more preferred locations. Background checks and a new part-time employee packet will need to be completed prior to starting in this important position. More information is on the district HR webpages.

Parent Volunteers Wanted!

Did you know that we recycle and compost at NAMS?

Students are taught where remaining liquids go, what can be composted, what can be recycled, and what can be thrown away. We are looking for volunteers to supervise and support students as they learn the system.

Stevens Memorial Library

Stevens’ goal is to help every North Andover student (parents, caregivers, and teachers, too) have a Stevens Library card this fall. First-time library cards are always free, replacement cards are free during September and October.

Explore all Stevens and the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) has waiting for you. Your Stevens card works in MVLC’s 35 member libraries, so you have access to hundreds-of-thousands of books, manga and graphic novels, magazines, DVDs, music. Use Interlibrary-loan to bring items to Stevens or visit the libraries. Find special items at Stevens like music instruments, a telescope, and STEM kits. Online? Use OverDrive's Libby for books and magazines: e-books and e-audiobooks. Try TumbleBooks, TumbleMath, and TeenBookCloud, too.

 

Join us for activities like story times and book groups, craft times and programs like Pokemon or Lego Club, or Technology Help. Dates, times, and places are on the Library Calendar. School papers and projects? Visit Stevens and talk with a librarian. Use Stevens E-Library’s 30+ online resources: encyclopedias & reference; world languages; test preparation & E-learning; history; literature; science. You can search by keyword, subject or name.

North Andover Youth Center Update

Summer Recap

We had another amazing summer at NAYRS, running our 6-week playground/recreation programs at five sites around town (Sargent Summer Fun, Franklin Summer Fun, Drummond Summer Fun, Girl Got Game at Atkinson, and Sports & Rec at Reynolds Field!) In addition to our 6-week programs, we had many programs and field trips for kids who finished 6th - 8th Grade, such as Summer League Basketball, Adventure Week, Film Week, Water Week, Surfing, Deep Sea Fishing, and many others. Our programs and trips ranged from adventure and recreation activities, to community service opportunities, to support services. We also had a full season of children’s shows and Sunday night Concerts on the Common, and 6 weeks of (free) fun at Stevens Pond!

NAYRS would like to thank our 1,289 summer program participants for bringing positivity and energy everyday, all of the parents & guardians for their support, North Andover Public Schools for their facilities, and our 150 part-time high school and college staff for helping make it the “Best Summer Ever!” Next year’s summer registration will start on April 6th, 2026, and we can’t wait for another great summer!

 

Middle School Memberships & Fall Programs

Youth Center Memberships are for middle school students (NA residents) who want to come to the Youth Center and take advantage of the facilities, including the gymnasium, computer room, lounge, street hockey rink, rock wall, acres of outdoor space, and the weight room (weight room is for ages 13+). It will be $140 for the membership for the 2025-2026 school year. Members can attend the Youth Center Mondays-Fridays between 2:30 to 5:30pm, and we will be open at 11:30am on Half Day Wednesdays! Members can drop in anytime in our open hours after school, participate in drop-in activities and hang out with friends, and also can sign up for seasonal programs and field trips, some of which are free and some have an additional fee.

 

Reopening Dates

Tuesday, September 2nd & Wednesday, September 3rd: On Tuesday 9/2 2:30-5:30pm and Wednesday 9/3 2:30-5:30pm we will be open for just 7th & 8th graders, not 6th graders. Thursday, September 4th: On Thursday 9/4 2:30-5:30pm we will be open for just 6th graders, not 7th & 8th graders. We will have a quick meeting in the gym to go over general rules, so we recommend 6th graders come this day if they are able! Friday, September 5th: Beginning Friday 9/5 2:30-5:30, we will be open for all middle school members going forward.

Our Fall Program offerings will be listed at www.nayouth.com/fall starting Friday 8/22, for parents/guardians to view what we’re offering leading up to registration. Registration will begin online for memberships and programs for Grades 6-8 beginning Thursday 8/28 at 9am. More information about online registration can be found using the above links.
