Hello NAMS Families,

I hope that this message finds you and your loved ones well! This second welcome back message is intended to provide you with additional information and resources, along with some repeated information.

New Information

NAMS Parent/Guardian Guide 2021-2022

You may find helpful information for students and families about all of our NAMS protocols in our NAMS Parent/Guardian Guide 2021-2022.

Welcome Message from our NAMS Health Office and NAMS Nurses

Dear Middle School Parents/Guardians,

We are looking forward to greeting our students and welcoming them back to our school building.  We have been working diligently to incorporate the most recent recommendations and guidelines put forward by the Centers for Disease Control, Massachusetts Department of Public Health,  and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in close collaboration with our local North Andover Board of Health, school physician, and administrators as we put our school health protocols and procedures into place.  Our goal is always to do everything that we can to provide our students and staff with the healthiest learning environment possible.

You as parents/guardians will continue to play a significant role in helping us to make this year a smooth and successful experience.  It remains critical that parents/guardians screen their children for COVID-19 symptoms every day before school to help keep the students and staff at NAMS healthy.

Please be on the lookout for an email with further information regarding our NAPS Covid-19 testing program.  With parental consent all students can participate in this program which includes both Symptomatic Testing and Test and Stay.

You may find detailed information about all of our current health and safety protocols in the North Andover Public Schools - District Reference Guide.

If you have medication, medical forms, or medical orders/supplies to drop at the Health Office we will be in there on Tuesday August 31, 2021 from 7:30-2:00 p.m.

In order to administer any other medications, a physician’s order as well as written parental/guardian permission must be submitted to the Health Office. Please complete the following form and return along with medication(s) to the Nurse’s Office by a parent/guardians: Consent for Medication Administration

We are excited to welcome back all of our students and will continue to do all that we can to promote the health, safety, and emotional well being of everyone in our NAMS community. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Pease BSN, RN, NCSN

Service Animal Working at NAMS this year

There will be a service animal working at NAMS this year with one of our Grade 8 students. You may find a list of Frequently Asked Questions and Answers about Service Animals here.

Transportation

Any grade 6 students who live at least two miles from school are authorized to ride the buses at no charge. You may find information about registering for a bus, bus routes, and much more on the Transporting website here. Students must be wearing a mask when boarding a school bus.

Cafeteria and Food Services

All information is available at NAPS Food Services. Students may choose to bring their lunch to school. Although NAMS is not a peanut-free school, please consider not sending peanut products to school. This greatly reduces the risks for students with a food allergy.

Repeat Information

First Day of School - Wednesday, September 1, 2021

We are eagerly anticipating the return of our students on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Typically, traffic is heavy on the first day, so please leave extra time and carpool if possible. You may find the UPDATED Drop Off & Pick Up map on our website or you may access the map directly here. We ask that every parent/guardian exercise utmost care and patience in the drop-off and pick-up areas.

Walk or Ride to School

If your child walks or rides a bike to school, please be sure to review the safety tips found here. If your child rides the bus to or from school, please be sure that your child knows his/her bus number prior to the first day of school. The Transportation Department will have bus routes and more available soon.

What homeroom is my child assigned to?

  • Students will be able to learn what homeroom they are in by logging into PowerSchool on the evening of Tuesday, August 31st or they can find out on the first day of school.

Where do students report on the first day of school?

  • Grade 6 students should report to the auditorium where the 6th grade teachers will meet with teams and bring them to homerooms.

  • Grade 7 students should report to the 7th grade cafeteria, where homerooms will be posted.

  • Grade 8 students should report to the 8th grade cafeteria, where homerooms will also be posted.

Team Assignments & Supply Lists

All registered students were informed of their team assignments. You may find all of the Team’s Supply Lists here. You will see that all supply lists also include the Related Arts supply lists as well. We ask that students please bring their chromebooks to school every day, including the first day of school.

Student Schedules

Students will know what Related Arts class(es) they will be enrolled in to begin the school year once schedules are finalized and PowerSchool is open for student and parent viewing on the evening of Tuesday, August 31st. Students will also be able to review their schedules on the first day of school. You may find the NAMS schedule for all students here.

Lockers

Students will once again be able to use lockers to store their materials securely. Homeroom teachers will be assigning lockers to students during the first few days of school. Homeroom teachers will be selling locks for $7.00 each on the first few days of school.
